Black+Blue Steakhouse heading to Toronto this spring

If you emerge from your winter hibernation in search of excitement, hearty, high-end fare and the thrill of something new, King West will soon be home to a spot where your dreams can all come true. Black+Blue Steakhouse, from Glowbal Restaurant Group, is set to arrive in the Financial District early this year. Bringing with it modern design, one-of-a-kind experiences, and steakhouse fare presented in unquestionably fresh ways, it’s poised to be the city’s hottest spot as spring takes hold.

A restaurant group hailing from Vancouver, Glowbal counts 10 restaurants in its popular portfolio. Kicking off its eastern expansion, the team will open Black + Blue, a premier steak dining experience, in Toronto's Exchange Tower at 130 King Street West later this year. Designed by hospitality design firm Navigate Design — known for other local spots including Azhar Kitchen + Bar, Mira, and Mademoiselle — the two-storey, 9000-square-foot space will bring modern, energetic flair to the classic steakhouse look. From the Himalayan salt-lined meat locker, where guests can choose their own cut, to a 2000-square-foot patio, the design promises plenty to discover.

A Vancouver hot spot, Black+Blue’s Toronto iteration will feature a similar menu, designed to help guests delve into the golden age of steak. Helmed by executive chef Morgan Bellis, the team will offer some of the world’s rarest cuts along with highlights including Japanese A5 Wagyu, Canada and USDA Prime, seasonal seafood platters, sushi, tableside salads, and the extravagant B+B Potato — a fully-loaded spud topped with crème fraiche, Taleggio cheese and shaved black truffle.

Founded by former Toronto resident Emad Yacoub, Glowbal Restaurant Group is returning to its roots with its latest restaurant opening. "I immigrated to Toronto when I was 18 years old, and it is the city I still consider home,” said Yacoub in a press release. “I couldn't be more thrilled to return to where it all began and bring Glowbal Restaurant Group to Toronto, starting with the opening of our premier steakhouse Black+Blue.”

Initially open for lunch and dinner service, the team at Black+Blue will also add weekend brunch to the lineup as soon as possible post opening. With plans to bring a series of its restaurant concepts to Ontario, the opening of Black+Blue is just Toronto's first taste of Glowbal’s celebrated spots.
