J's Steak Frites brings a taste of Paris to Queen West

Certain cravings can’t be ignored. When the only thing that will do is juicy, perfectly-cooked Canadian AAA striploin nestled alongside golden, crisp frites, you’ll want to head to J's Steak Frites for a meal that satisfies. Elegant and uncomplicated, Queen West's newest spot takes guesswork out of the equation when all you want is simply delicious food.

Opened this April, J’s Steak Frites is a place that does one thing very, very well. Though some days you want to be spoiled for choice, for every other, J’s Steak Frites has you covered. “This is simplicity at its best,” says co-owner Jad Sfeir. “Steak frites restaurants, with limited menus, are very popular in Paris. We’re not reinventing the wheel with this concept — we’re bringing it to the city we love and we’re presenting it in a fresh way.”

Guests are welcomed with house-made bread with butter, followed by baby gem salad with walnuts and lemon vinaigrette. Steaks are 10 ounces each and cooked to each guest’s liking. Unlimited frites and J's secret butter sauce accompany each order.

“We want to appeal to a clientele that is eager to enjoy a prime cut of beef at a price that won’t break their wallet,” says Sfeir. “Young professionals and steak connoisseurs will enjoy J’s Steak Frites for the delicious striploin, but also for the cozy and welcoming ambiance, curated wine selection, and excellent house-made desserts,” he adds.

Made by Cordon Bleu-trained pastry chef Tara Tang, who is also a co-owner, desserts will rotate regularly and include French-inspired treats such as Baba Au Rum, Strawberry Frasier, and Mont Blanc.

When overcomplicated restaurant menus overwhelm, visit a place that asks nothing of you, apart from how you like your steak cooked. J’s Steak Frites is now open at 1198 Queen Street West.
