Louix Louis Launches whiskey tasting just in time for Father’s Day

If your dad craves opulence, thrives on sophistication and lives for luxury, treat him to Louix Louis’ latest launch. Created in partnership with Basil Hayden, the high-end restaurant’s new whiskey tasting makes an inspired gift for pop, or simply for yourself.

Launched on May 21 -- recognized as World Whisky Day by those in the know -- the new tasting will be available at Louix Louis until June 30. Each tasting features three, 1-ounce pours of Basil Hayden’s premium whiskeys.

Based in Clermont, Kentucky, Basil Hayden is part of the Jim Beam Small Batch Bourbon Collection. Created by master distiller Frederick Booker Noe II (Jim Beam’s grandson), Basil Hayden is described as a “more subtle” bourbon, distilled with a higher percentage of rye for a flavour profile that’s refined and approachable.

Home to one of North America’s largest dark spirits collections, at more than 500 bottles, Louix Louis is the ideal setting for a Basil Hayden tasting. Dine on any one of the restaurant’s devastatingly delicious dishes and, for $50 per person, add a Basil Hayden whiskey tasting to enjoy with your meal. To begin, guests will sample the Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey, a spicy, smooth sip, that’s both rich and sweet. Next, they’ll enjoy Dark Rye, a blend of Kentucky Rye, Canadian Rye and California Port. With flavours of caramel, dried fruit, oak and spice, each sip reveals the artistry of the blender. Finally, the Basil Hayden Toast delivers less spice and deeper notes of sweet caramel, thanks to a new brown rice mashbill and a secondary finish in toasted oak barrels.

Consider Father’s Day sorted, with a night spent in splendour at Louix Louis and a whiskey tasting unlike any in the city. How will you top this gift next year? Grab a bottle of dad’s favourite Basil Hayden sipper from the LCBO and reminisce about an evening spent marvellously well.
