Toronto Taste, Second Harvest’s biggest annual fundraiser, celebrates its 30th anniversary this June

You’ll want to carve out time in your busy spring calendar for what promises to be an unforgettable event. After a two year hiatus, and marking its 30th year, Toronto Taste is back with more chefs, more entertainment, and renewed purpose. Guests can expect 50 local chefs and cocktail experts on-site serving up a symphony of small plates and sips. With live entertainment, a parting gift that includes an exclusive recipe book, the popular Chef Challenge, and more, this is one culinary extravaganza you won’t want to miss.

Hosted by Canadian chef Bob Blumer, this year’s Toronto Taste, presented by The Daniels Corporation, is taking place on June 12th at Evergreen Brick Works. Held in support of Second Harvest, Canada’s largest food rescue organization, the event brings Toronto’s culinary elite together under one roof. The lengthy list of chefs taking part this year includes Nuit Regular, of Pai, Craig Wong, of Patois, Ryan Campbell, of Il Covo, Christine Mast, of Cluny Bistro and many, many more. Beverages will be provided by a number of wineries, breweries and distillers, including Closson Chase, Hidden Bench, Beau's, Muskoka Brewery and Diplomatico Rum. All 1600 guests will enjoy unlimited food and drink throughout the night, meaning an evening of rapture spent indulging in a deluge of unforgettable bites.

We’d say that alone is worth the entry fee, but there’s more. Each ticket purchased provides a remarkable 600 meals to Canadian families experiencing hunger. Throughout the night, guests will also enjoy a fine wine and silent auction, raffle and -- a highlight -- the Chef Challenge, during which top Toronto chefs have 30 minutes to create a winning meal from a box of mystery ingredients. This year’s intrepid competitors are La Palma chef de cuisine Sam Medeiros, executive chef of Real Sports, Jamie Robb, and Phil Nguyen, founder and owner of Nuoc Mam and chef specialist for Open Concept Hospitality. With each chef's fresh approach to cuisine, the live competition promises to add a frisson of nerve-racking excitement to an otherwise languid evening.

“The past two years have shone a light on food insecurity in Canada and how important it is to support organizations like Second Harvest,” said Vice President of The Daniels Corporation, Don Pugh in a press release. “Over the last two years, the team at Second Harvest has worked harder than ever to support communities across Canada throughout the pandemic,” emphasizes Second Harvest CEO Lori Nikkel. “We are delighted to bring back Toronto Taste and raise much-needed funds for a cause that’s so incredibly important to Canadians,” she adds.
