Canada’s Liberty Entertainment Group, whose premier hospitality collection includes fine dining restaurants like Casa Loma's Blueblood Steakhouse, Michelin-star Don Alfonso 1890 and Cibo, recently unveiled their newest dining concept to Toronto.
DaNico is a bespoke fine dining restaurant located in a heritage bank building in downtown Toronto.
Conceived with a nod to Michelin styled cuisine, service and award-winning design, the restaurant showcases the acclaimed talent of executive chef Daniele Corona of Don Alfonso 1890 Toronto, and was created in partnership with international hospitality icon, Nick Di Donato of Liberty Group, multi-starred chef Ernesto Iaccarino of the Don Alfonso 1890 Group, and chef Corona.
“Opening DaNico is truly my dream realized,” explains Daniele Corona, executive chef and partner. “The concept embodies my culinary journey -- from Italy, and under the mentorship of the Iaccarinos in the Amalfi Coast, through the evolution to what inspires my cooking today. Here, I can create my own interpretation of internationally inspired, award-winning cuisine. I am both proud and honoured to welcome my esteemed guests to share my vision unveiled.”
The restaurant seats just 60 people, but it goes above and beyond as far as elegance is concerned. Guests have the option to be driven to the restaurant via a personal chauffeur-driven Rolls Royce service, available for VIP evenings.
Those who love the gastronomical experience and culinary perfection of Don Alfonso 1890 will find a similar experience at DaNico.
Corona’s edgy approach to his signature menu focuses on the modern Italian culinary tradition for which he is regarded, combining modern Asian influences and utilizing the best local, and sustainable ingredients.
DaNico offers two dining options, with a prix fixe or an a la carte menu. The eight course signature tasting menu of distinctively crafted dishes -- produced with chef’s expert precision juxtaposing premium ingredients -- is plated on one-of-a-kind serving vessels, designed to tell his story of the food in a presentation that stimulates all senses.
Paired with an exceptional program of curated wines (the restaurant is home to more than 3,000 bottles) from DaNico’s noteworthy repository, DaNico promises an epic evening.
The tasting menu costs $225 per person. Wine pairings can be added for an additional $120. The vintage champagne service at the bar, as well as a selection of bespoke cocktails also add a sophisticated touch. And, why not wrap up the evening with an espresso or an authentic digestivo or nightcap?
DaNico is located at 440 College St. and is open Wednesday to Sunday from 5 to 10 p.m.
