As when stars align, there’s magic to be had when local restaurants join forces for creative, delectable collaborations. If a joint pop-up from Bar Mignonette and Barbershop Patisserie piques your interest, there’s only one place you’ll want to be come April 10 and 11.
Advertised on Instagram on March 30, the pop-up brings two of the city’s brightest culinary stars together for one hotly-anticipated menu.
Opened in September of 2020, Bar Mignonette sits atop sister restaurant Patois. Owned by chef Craig Wong, both spots boast soulful, seafood-heavy menus inspired by Wong’s Caribbean and Asian background.
A seafood lover's feast from Bar Mignonette features items like Lobster Rockefeller, Uni Cream & Ikura Baked Potato, Sweet BBQ Dusted Popcorn Shrimp and Crabfest Mac n’ Cheese.
As for Barbershop Patisserie? One of the city’s newer bakeries, opened last winter, Barbershop is also one of its most popular. The small bakery is simple enough to spot thanks to snaking lineups of devotees huddled outside on weekends, waiting for their fix. One taste of head chef and owner Jill Barber’s breathtaking lemon bichon, and the madness makes sense.

If a menu of siu mai sausage rolls with Chinese hot mustard and salted duck egg puffs, made with molten egg yolk and crème pâtissière, sounds good, you know what to do. Though pre-orders are, not surprisingly, already sold out, both items will be available for a select number of walk-ins at both locations on April 10 and 11. Doors open at Bar Mignonette at 12 p.m. and at Barbershop Patisserie at 11 a.m. We're guessing we don't have to tell you to arrive early to avoid disappointment.
