If you’re aching to lean into summer’s sultry, steamy side, Chotto Matte’s Jungle Brunch promises a multi-sensory taste of the Peruvian jungle you won’t want to miss.
Back for another year, Jungle Brunch is a true feast for the senses, with enough cocktails and Japanese-Peruvian dishes to satisfy. Beginning on July 10, Jungle Brunch will take over the Chotto Matte patio every Saturday throughout the summer from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Immediately upon arrival, guests will enter the deep, dark Peruvian jungle, where acrobats, aerial artists, dancers and other surprise performers will move to the sound of modern Peruvian electro beats.
Each brunch, for $60 per person, includes a generous selection of Nikkei, or Japanese-Peruvian, favourites that use fresh fish, beef and an abundance of seasonal ingredients in artistic, exquisite ways. Dishes are served family-style, beginning with spicy tuna tartare with crispy rice and barbecued edamame tossed with sea salt. From there, diners have a choice of main, from branzino filet tempura to gambas a la parilla, yellowtail Nikkei sashimi, warm beef fillet tataki and more. A choice of sides and desserts round out the menu.
A lively cocktail list, filled with the flavours of Peru, has a bevy of options certain to quench your thirst. Jungle Punch combines Appleton VX Rum, blackberry liqueur, pineapple, lime and soda into a lush, invigorating sip. The Cheetah-Rita, is a citrusy blend of Cazadores Blanco Tequila, Cointreau, yuzu and agave. Opt for the bottomless brunch for $110 and sample a selection of sips, from cocktails to beer, wine and bubbly.
