Yes, we have another fried chicken restaurant to tell you about, but this is one you won't want to miss.
Co-founders Kevin Green and Amanda Lynn Louie launched Toronto's first-ever fried chicken food truck back in 2015 after growing weary of their corporate lives. "We decided that the corporate world was not for us and ditched our desks for a kitchen on wheels! Now we spend our days working for our customers and clients to make sure they have the best experience possible," the duo remarks.
Co-founders of Fully Loaded T.O. and now Birdies Fried Chicken, Kevin Green and Amanda Lynn Louie.
Following six successful years of running their booming food truck and catering company and servicing the entire GTA at events, festivals, private parties and curbside service, the founders decided it was time to open a brick-and-mortar location.
After securing a location at Coxwell and Gerrard, Kevin and Amanda have spent the past few months undergoing renovations, with the initial tease for the storefront opening appearing on Instagram back in August 2020.
Following months of growing anticipation, Birdies finally opened its doors for a soft opening this past weekend, which was received with resounding success and support from their already loyal base of Fully Loaded fans -- selling out faster than they expected!
They currently offer a limited menu, with dishes similar to Fully Loaded but intend to expand soon. On the menu, find a selection of fried chicken sandwiches like their OG Fried Chicken Sandwich, Nashville Hot Fried Chicken Sandwich and their Fried Chicken Banh Mi. If you don't feel like a sandwich, opt for their Buttermilk Chicken Strips, available in OG or Nashville Hot. Sides include fries, extra pickles and Truck Sauce -- their famed house-made sauce that first made its debut on their food truck.
Birdies opens again this weekend from Friday to Sunday, from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m., and online pickup orders can be made in advance on their website.
