If a new year has you searching for new ways to satisfy your sweet tooth, you'll want to order treats from Knead It Baked, Scarborough's newest, female-owned, black-owned home bakery.

Launching January 12, Knead It Baked is owned and operated by Kennedy Sherwood, a home baker and student who decided to turn her hobby into a business when she found herself unable to work due to the pandemic.

With a focus on sweets, the current menu includes classic favourites, including cookies and squares, many of which are free of nuts and dairy. The company's cheesecake-filled cookies, in raspberry, blueberry and cinnamon bun flavours, are proving to be a runaway hit.

Baked goods will be available for pickup and delivery within Scarborough starting January 12. Pickup, near the Scarborough Town Centre, is available every Tuesday evening and on Saturdays between 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. Delivery will be available on Saturdays between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. for a $5 flat rate in the GTA.

With a promise to switch up menu items often to keep things interesting, Sherwood says to keep an eye on Instagram to see what each month's menu will offer. Potential candidates, judging on previous posts, include layer cakes, cookie cakes, macarons and more.
