There are two things that every mom wants come Mother’s Day -- tranquillity and food. This year, treat the household monarch to what she craves most with a day of calm and Toronto’s most regal sweet -- the limited-edition Queen’s Cake from Louix Louis.

Created by St. Regis pastry chef Gerald Tan, the Queen’s Cake is a riff on the restaurant’s renowned King’s Cake. Whereas the King’s Cake is made of 13 layers of rich chocolate cake layered with 64% Guayaquil chocolate ganache and accented with gold leaf for a royal touch, the Queen’s Cake is lighter, decorated with flowers and inspired by spring. With 14 layers -- because we all know who’s boss -- the cake features a balanced combination of tart lemon sponge with blueberry and lavender buttercream. Each slice is served with blueberry coulis and a scoop of Midnight Blossom, white chocolate and hibiscus ice cream, infused with the hotel’s signature tea.

Since nobody should live off cake alone, add Louix Louis’ 4-course brunch to your order from May 7- 9, and satisfy the whole family. Available for two to four diners, each meal includes specialty cocktails and begins with a basket of breakfast pastries and a selection of appetizers, including shrimp and vegetable salad and Scotch eggs. Diners can then choose between croque monsieur, truffle chicken and waffles, New York striploin or vegetarian wild mushroom quiche with a selection of sides. The restaurant’s show-stopping Queen’s Cake is a fitting, and delicious, finale to the feast.

With a spread this good, there’s only one way to top it -- with a one-night stay in the Grand Deluxe One Bedroom Suite at The St. Regis. Enter the St. Regis x TasteToronto giveaway on TasteToronto's Instagram page and you may be able to gift mom a night of incomparable splendour in one of the city’s most luxurious suites.
