The pandemic has unleashed the creativity in the restaurant industry, that had to find fresh, original ways to get their dishes to their customers.
One of the more challenging dishes to pack and receive through delivery or pick up is ramen, but one Toronto restaurant has found a workaround that allows you to eat your favourite ramen at home without losing any of its texture, freshness or flavour.
Midori Ramen, Toronto’s newest tori paitan ramen restaurant by Chef Masaru Ogasawara and Chef Natsuhiko Sugimoto, offers premium quality Japanese ramen served with fresh ingredients and bold flavours.
Their restaurant was supposed to open in the spring of 2020, but due to the pandemic, they had to delay until January of 2021 and only for takeout and delivery. With COVID-19 restrictions still in place, they had to find a way to pivot, so they came up with the idea of selling frozen ramen.
This concept brings restaurant-quality ramen to your home with minimal effort––all you need is a pot and 6-8 minutes, you don’t even need to add water.
The ramen kits are handcrafted in the restaurant with no added preservatives. Midori's frozen ramen comes in three flavours––original tori paitan, red spicy and black garlic.
Midori Ramen is located at 412 Queen Street West in Toronto. They are open for pickup and delivery. They are currently setting up their curbside patio through CafeTo and will soon be available for outdoor dining once the province permits it.
