Mill Street Brewery and the Toronto Blue Jays are launching a new collaboration brew

In recent Covid times, news of a new wave hitting the GTA hasn't been a cause for rejoicing. However, the imminent arrival of Blue Wave, a "home-run collaboration" between Mill Street Brewery and the Toronto Blue Jays, promises to give beer lovers and Jays fans alike something to cheer about.

The two iconic homegrown brands joined forces to brainstorm over how best to quench the thirst of a stadium full of baseball fans craving liquid refreshment that would pair well with pretzels and hot dogs. An imbibable paean to Toronto's home team and its fans, Blue Wave is an unfiltered lager whose waves of flavour veer from those of a light, crisp lager to a more juicy IPA. In keeping with its vibe of impending summer, melon, lemon, and lime notes add a bright, tropical undertow.

"As a Toronto-based craft brewer, collaborating with a Canadian organization as beloved as the Toronto Blue Jays has been extremely exciting for us," announced Daryl Minor, President, Mill Street Brewery & Brickworks Ciderhouse, in a press release. "Our brands saw the perfect opportunity to create a new product distinctly made for Toronto baseball fans, and we look forward to them raising a cold Blue Wave while rooting for our prized home team."

Launched just in time for the Jay’s Opening Night, April 8, at Rogers Centre, Blue Wave is already available at the LCBO and The Brew Store as well as at the Mill Street Brewpub in the Distillery District, where it will be featured as part of a customized Opening Night “Blue Wave” pairing menu.

So far, pre-game sampling has been favourable. On Untappd, an app in which users check in to rate the beers they’re quaffing, Blue Wave has racked up a respectable 3.52 (out of 5). Enthusiastic guzzlers such as “Scott” declare it to be the “best lager from Mill Street so far… like a pale lager but so friggin smooth… I would crush this at ball games.”
