For obvious reasons, this year’s International Nurses Day, celebrated annually on May 12th, is extra special. As people around the world stay home and follow social distancing to try to fight the spread of COVID-19, healthcare workers are the ones on the front lines, risking their own health to care for those who need it most. As a thank you to medical professionals across the country, Molson Coors Beverage Company in Canada is donating 20,000 meals to healthcare heroes.
On Molson Coors' Instagram, the company thanks those for supporting the cause and celebrating our country's heroes; as well as supporting the restaurant industry by donating a meal.
“Canadian healthcare workers are selflessly caring for those in need to create a better tomorrow for all of us,” said Fred Landtmeters, President of Molson Coors Canada. “While we can’t help these heroes on the front line, we can certainly thank them with the gesture of a meal.” The meals -- provided through gift card codes to SkipTheDishes -- are available to workers in communities where Molson Coors brews, including St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto, Montreal General Hospital in Quebec and Health Sciences Centre in St John’s, Newfoundland.
To further the initiative, Molson Coors is also inviting the public to donate additional meals through a GoFundMe page. Each $25 donation made between now and May 31st, provides one meal to a frontline healthcare worker. So far, SkipTheDishes has donated 2,800 additional meals beyond Molson Coors’ 20,000 initial pledge. “We’re proud to support Molson Coors,” said Rob Payne, Vice President of National Partnerships at SkipTheDishes. This program, “not only thanks healthcare workers who are working tirelessly to fight COVID-19, but also helps our restaurant partners facing unprecedented hardships.”
