While we sit at home and continue to take in the state of the current world, we often find ourselves not only hungry for delicious food, but for the feeling that we're contributing to something greater.
Just a year ago, it was easier to donate to someone in need, volunteer for a cause you were passionate about, or attend a talk held in support of an issue you care for. Nowadays, many of us want to give, but simply aren't sure where to start. For three nights only, look no further than Casey House – who's offering upscale delivery to your door on March 2-4 in support of a worthwhile cause.
Casey House opened in 1988 and has since been Canada's only stand-alone hospital for people with HIV/AIDS. They offer a multidisciplinary approach to health & well-being, ensuring everyone who is being treated is not just cared for, but lives with dignity. The goal is to go beyond care, breaking down barriers and stigmas through thoughtful listening, understanding and assisting without judgment.
Casey House has created a number of fundraising initiatives in support of their mission to #smashstigma. Despite everyone's knowledge of HIV, people still fear those who are infected and these efforts work to change that. One initiative was Healing House HIV+ Spa; realizing that touch is essential to human health but something that many with HIV feel deprived of, they opened a spa in which rejuvenating treatments administered by HIV+ healers. In 2019 and 2020, they opened June's HIV+ Eatery, a one-of-a-kind eatery run by HIV+ chefs.
This year, we may not get the chance to dine at June's, but that doesn't mean we can't support them. This year, June's is offering a multi-course 'heat-and-eat dinner' for two with wine for $500, delivered to your door. You can choose between a menu featuring charcuterie, mushroom soup, burrata salad, duck confit and dessert, or opt for a just as delicious plant-based menu. They even host a virtual cocktail hour to engage in conversation about food and stigma before diving into the delicious food they offer.
You can't get HIV from food, but by ordering from them and supporting Casey House, you can help #smashstigma.
