There’s a new spot in town for anyone craving a range of Turkish flavours. From exquisite breakfast platters to simit, baklava, sandwiches, kebabs, salads, and traditional maras dondurma, or Turkish ice cream, MADO has a lengthy menu with enough eats to satisfy a host of cravings.

Founded in Turkey in 1965, MADO is a family-run business with close to 400 branches worldwide, from Turkey to Australia, China and more. MADO’s new location at 3300 Dufferin Street is the first in Canada, though two more GTA locations, one at Square One and another on Yonge Street, are already in the works.

MADO began as an ice cream shop dedicated to the tradition of Anatolian karsambac, or snow mix. Made with mastic, a tree resin, and salep, a type of flour made from the root of certain orchids, MADO’s ice cream is fantastically stretchy, resists melting and is uniquely delicious. In flavours ranging from lemon and almond to pistachio, walnut and more, MADO’s ice cream is reason enough to visit.

Along with the chain’s legendary ice cream and other desserts, you’ll find menus featuring savoury and sweet breakfast, lunch and dinner options at MADO. Enormous Turkish tray breakfasts include a sampling of cheeses, sausage, bread, comb honey, olives, spreads, veggies, fruit and eggs. From pasta and sandwiches to wraps, kebabs, and other hearty fare, an array of options round out the extensive menu. Choose from an assortment of teas, coffees, milkshakes, fresh juices and smoothies to wash it all down.

Currently open for curbside pickup, MADO boasts a welcoming, bright interior sure to draw crowds as soon as indoor dining resumes.
