Rasta Pasta owners opening new bar next door to restaurant

Your favourite Kensington market Jamaican and Italian fusion spot is opening a new bar next door to their restaurant.

In a couple months, Rasta Pasta owners Mary Neglia and Magnus Patterson are ready to expand. They are putting their creative energy into Rasta Pasta's sister bar. The new establishment will have the same welcoming atmosphere as the restaurant and will sell Jamaican beers, cocktails, Italian wines and spirits. The drinks will be paired with menu items from Rasta Pasta (did we mention it is conveniently located next door to the anticipated bar) as well as a new menu that focuses more smaller sharing dishes that make the perfect bar snacks.

The bar next door, covered up for renovations.

Mary and Magnus have been running their counter serve restaurant since 2014. They have put in hard work, diligence and have not compromised on the taste, quality and portion of the food they serve. Rasta Pasta has been a Kensington market staple for years now. Torontonians and Kensington market goers have seen this restaurant dish out hundreds of meals through their weekday service and sell out before close on weekends. We expect this bar will bring the same enthused crowds that line up for a taste of of this food.

They offer classic Jamaicain cuisines like 2-day marinated jerk chicken with rice and peas, ox tail, salt fish with ackee and fried plantains. Their innovative fusion of Jamaican and Italian recipes bring forth dishes such as their jerk lasagna, Dreadlock Pasta with jerk meatballs and their 'Rasta Pasta' - soft fluffy gnocchi, sauteed in alfredo or marinara sauce served with Jamaica's national dish, ackee & saltfish. They believe in from-scratch food and make all their pasta's in house.

The new bar will have slightly extended hours for the later night crowd. The neighbourhood is cheering them on and Torontonians should keep their ears peeled for the official release of the opening date. Be sure to check it out and support this local business!
