The corner of King and Portland may no longer be the place to crush cookie cravings (RIP, Portland Variety) but, thanks to the opening of Ruby Soho Bar this week, it could soon be your favourite place to grab a pint alongside casual eats.
Brought to life by Andrew Richmond, of El Catrin and Sweet Jesus renown, and some of the team behind El Furniture Warehouse, Ruby Soho Bar’s menu specializes in traditional American comfort cuisine, hopefully with Insta-worthy looks. Craft cocktails and a mix of local, domestic and imported beer round out the offerings.
Refurbished from top to bottom by model ctzn, Richmond’s interior design and branding agency known for other hot Toronto spots including Shook and Good Fortune, the building is now outfitted in red brick with neon red signage. The new look exudes rustic British comfort with an undercurrent of clubby King West cool and a slightly steampunk vibe.
Once it’s up and running, Ruby Soho Bar will offer all-day dining, from breakfast to late-night.
