There are some people that go the extra mile at work, in their tasks and at home––and then there are people like Patrice Pollack, who manages to do all of that in addition to going the extra mile for those who need it.
Pollack is not just a powerhouse creative director at FUSE Create, but also operates a hidden sourdough bakery, Bread & Better, in which a portion of proceeds from each loaf go to SickKids Foundation. The donations go towards Project Halo, a philanthropist initiative powered by an online community of mothers––Mom HALO.
Her goal is to help her close friend Alana, the mother of 8-month-old 'Hank the Tank,' who's spent almost half of his life hospitalized. Pollack wants to do her part to support the Halo cause and reach the $1 million fundraising goal for SickKids hospital's cardiology unit––a project that would benefit so many upon completion.
Each beautiful, perfectly baked sourdough loaf is sold at $15. Initially, all orders were being held via DM, but Pollack has created a calendar link where orders can be done directly through the site. Clearly, people are seeing the work she's doing and supporting it––earlier this week a stranger bought her a new Staub dutch oven so she could make more than her six-loaf daily maximum, amplifying her charitable support.
In addition to selling the loaves, Pollack has also worked with other local vendors, like CampMoms' dish towels, which can be purchased alongside the loaves. Next month, she will partner with local artists to add that special touch with greeting cards and prints with each loaf.
Check them out on Instagram and order a loaf today to help Pollack, Alana, Hank the Tank and so many other children and families build a new SickKids.
