Steadfast Brewing Co. has arrived in Toronto's west end! Navigate your way to this community and river-inspired brewery for its mix of tasty traditional and unexpected brews. Steadfast will officially open its doors today, September 9.
Owners Asa Davis, Graham Pinchin and Diana Rivera are a trio of friends with a passion for beer and community. Asa and Graham are experienced brewers who handle the production and tap room, while Diana spearheads project management and community engagement.
Located at the corner of College and Lansdowne, Steadfast Brewing Co. has taken over the old Woodhouse Brew Pub space. The space remains relaxed, no frills and friendly with a smattering of stools at long, high tables, along the bar and at the storefront window, so it is great for groups of friends, casual dates or even a solo brewski. Or, soak in the tail end of summer on the brewery's laid-back front patio with a few wooden benches and modest "Cold Beer" sign.
A highlight of the indoor space is the wall mural by Toronto artist Jesseca Buizon, which is inspired by Toronto's lost rivers, much like the rest of Steadfast's branding and even one of its staple beers, the Hidden Rivers Pale Ale. According to the team at Steadfast, "one of our first inspirations [was] Toronto’s lost rivers, its shipping [and] naval history, and old maps of the city, as we wanted to be rooted in our community."
Now, for the beer! Steadfast's beers tend towards the traditional and malty, but there are also some unique brews for those who want to try something new. For the summer, their beer menu boasts six pours available on tap, with some in cans and some in growlers. Their full-time lineup includes the traditional Going Steady Amber Ale, the crisp and inspired by Toronto's lost rivers Hidden Rivers Pale Ale and the Dog Days IPA made with Canada's own Sasquatch hops and a blend of west coast hops, all of which are available in cans. Their summer rotation features the light and refreshing Nimbus American Wheat, the malty Beach Daze Gose and the exciting and savoury Ají Hot Pepper Citrus IPA, which are available in growlers. For those who want to try a few pours, tasting flights are on the menu.
Steadfast's drink menu also includes non-beer options: Revel Cider, bar rail and house red and white wine. A surprise special cocktail by Danu Social House will also be available on tap. Non-alcoholic drink options include pop and Italian soda.
This craft brewery would not be complete without some nibbles. Those seeking food will find an assortment of snacks, including My Empanada empanadas (beef, chicken and veggie), General Assembly Pizza (margherita, sweet heat, plushroom and the plant-based green margherita) and Steadfast's own special recipe French onion dip with chips.
Steadfast Brewing Co.'s grand opening date is today, where it will celebrate with a $6 pint promo available and a special cask version of the seasonal Ají Hot Pepper Citrus IPA, infused with ghost peppers, available from Friday to Sunday.
