The ‘Eat Local Relief Effort Grant’ is pledging $1 million to help support Canadian restaurants who have been impacted by COVID-19. Restaurants who apply may receive a $2,500 grant to help them where they need it the most.
The grants are a part of Uber’s ‘Eat Local Support Effort’, an initiative that is providing $7 million in different commitments over five months to support restaurants struggling through the impacts of COVID.
Restaurants that use the Uber Eats platform as an ordering tool are eligible for the grant. It is also only accessible for small, local restaurants that have no more than five operating locations. The restaurants will also have to demonstrate a need of immediate funds to cover costs caused by loss of income.
According to their online form, the grant will be given to active restaurant partners, with a preference for applicants that have “demonstrated a commitment to the local community, including restaurant staff, throughout the pandemic.”
Eligible restaurants can apply via the online form. Applicants will have the opportunity to explain their current situation and how COVID has impacted their restaurant, as well as describe how they have taken initiative to support their community throughout the pandemic.
