A new food festival is coming to Mississauga this week

In case you haven't heard, festival season is right around the corner. This means that the city will soon be jam-packed with food events and festivals, a sure sign that summer has finally arrived.

And, while some have already announced a few major events, such as Toronto's Ribfest and Stackt Market, there's now word of a new food festival, one that allows you to try unique dishes from all over the country.

This project comes to us from Night Market Toronto, the same team behind the famous Winter Eats Drive-Thru Festival. The upcoming community food festival, which the team marks as the first of many events they will be hosting this year, will be followed by a number of themed events, such as a Middle Eastern Eid Market and an International Market.

"The joy of food often helps people feel better, and given the difficult year we've all had, we wanted to give the community something to celebrate, something to reassure them that everything will be okay," says Amanee Nassereddine, director of public relations for Night Market Toronto.

"More than anything else, the community food festival aims to celebrate our resilience and perseverance during these trying times, as well as show our support for local vendors and restaurant owners. And we figured, what better way to do that than with wonderful food?"

And this summer, guests can explore a variety of different cuisines and flavours. With everything from burgers and fries, to lobster poutine, the world is your oyster (or in this case, your lobster).

You might recognize a few familiar names this year, as some of the city's most beloved local businesses are among the long list of vendors taking part. Some of the current stands include Gourmet Guyz, Mustache Burger, Street Bitez, Shake It & Co., Major's Cookies, Holy Grill, Rollin' Rooster, Coffee Brake Truck, and Heirloom Cheesecake.

To limit overcrowding and ensure a safe and seamless pickup, orders can be placed and paid for ahead of time online with a preferred pickup time slot between June 27 and June 30.

Past this date, customers can place their orders in person. Since onsite dining is currently prohibited by public health officials, customers will be expected to vacate the premises once their orders have been picked up.

You can find them in the P3 parking lot at Square One Shopping Center in Mississauga. The festival will only be open for a few days, from June 27 to July 4, so don't miss out! In the meantime, keep an eye on their social media to see what they will reveal next.
