Carlos’ Bake Shop opening in Yorkville this summer

This summer, Yorkville is poised to become more decadent, more extravagant and more over-the-top than ever before -- just not in the way you might expect. Instead of high-rollers and cash wads, we’re talking heaps of buttercream, mile-high cake slices, and enough crispy, creamy lobster tails to put everyone in the neighbourhood in a sweet frame of mind.

In 2020, Carlo’s Bake Shop entered the local bakery market by way of cake slice ATM machines, strategically dotted around the GTA. Owned and operated by Buddy Valastro, who garnered fame via his reality TV show, Cake Boss, the bakery was a highly-anticipated entrant into the competitive market. Soon, machines were selling out, with demand outpacing availability of the Cake Boss’ coveted Red Velvet, Vanilla Rainbow and Chocolate Fudge slices.

Clearly inspired by our collective cravings for cake, Valastro opened the first Canadian location of Carlo’s Bake Shop in Port Credit in January, 2022. Now, the company is ready to thrill yet again, with a location of Carlos’ Bakery Bake Shop Express in Yorkville, slated to open this summer.

Located at 24 Bellair Street, the location will offer a selection of Valastro’s favourites, including classic cannoli, decorated layer cakes, cream-filled lobster tails, cookies, and more. Though there won’t be dine-in available at the 700-square-foot site, nearby Village of Yorkville Park is a perfectly comfortable spot to settle in with your grab-and-go goods.

Though an exact opening date for Carlos Bakery Bake Shop Express has yet to be announced, watch for line-ups snaking up and down Bellair Street as a sure sign that good things have arrived.
