Ditta Artigianale celebrates its grand opening this week

If you’re suddenly stopped in your tracks by the intoxicating aroma of coffee wafting along Richmond Street West, thank Ditta Artigianale and its first North American café. Opening on October 17, the new café brings Italy’s preeminent specialty coffee roaster, and a menu of tasty nibbles, to the ground floor of The Harlowe condo tower.

A micro-roastery founded in 2013 by partners Francesco Sanapo and Patrick Hoffer, Ditta Artigianale has built its reputation on sourcing the world’s finest coffee beans, then roasting them to perfection. Years of research, especially into micro-lot coffee, tasting, and fine-tuning have led to a brand recognized for its roster of international coffees bursting with the aromas of chocolate, nuts, berries, ripe fruit and more. Named Italy’s best roaster in 2019, Sanapo is also a renowned barista and self-described “coffee lover.”

After opening its first physical location in 2014, the company expanded and now operates four cafés in Florence, Italy. Described as an “Italian roasting company with an international vision,” on its website, it’s no surprise that the team is branching out, with a new café in Toronto.

Open seven days a week, from morning through to dinnertime, Ditta Artigianale will offer guests a menu of specialty coffees and pastries, brunch, small plates and cocktails. On the spirits list, guests will find Peter in Florence Gin, an artisanal Tuscan gin found exclusively at the café. Designed, “as a love letter to the brand’s Italian roots,” the new location promises guests an authentically Italian experience from the moment they step through the door.

With 40 seats, plus additional standing room, you'll soon be popping into the new café for brisk morning lattes, fortifying work lunches, and leisurely evening libations. For a taste of artisanal Italian culture blended with contemporary appeal, visit Ditta Artigianale today.
