Take a trip to the American Southwest at King Street West’s Bar Coneja

If your patio dreams are populated by margaritas and mojitos, carnitas, Mexican corn, and more, Bar Coneja is the newest place to steer your summer-stoked self. From the team behind Rabbit! Rabbit! Rabbit!, Bar Coneja brings the restaurant’s outdoor space to life, with a new menu, live-fire grill and the type of Southwest American flavours you crave when temperatures sizzle.

Opened this June, Bar Coneja is a summer-only retreat with a backyard barbecue feel. It’s the type of place where frosty drinks meet smoked sustenance to create the type of magical summer memories that sustain you when the snow is three-feet deep.

In keeping with its parent -- Distrikt 461's Rabbit! Rabbit! Rabbit!, at 461 King Street West -- the menu here draws on inspiration from the American Southwest. Dishes comfortably mix Tex-Mex, South American and Latin notions, ingredients and flair for a range of patio-perfect bites. Divided into "Tacos" and "Not Tacos," the concise menu offers plenty of vegan, gluten-free and lactose-free options and satisfies whether a full dinner or just a snack is in order. You may head in with tacos on the brain, but you won't want to overlook the kitchen's non-taco options. Spy the smoky, singed Pollo Asado Quesadilla, with tamarind onion jam and garlic crema, the Pork Belly Burnt Ends, with Valentina hot sauce caramel, or the Braised Short Rib Huarache, with black beans, salsa verde and crema, landing on other tables and you'll hastily want to amend your order. Still, with tempting tacos brimming with assorted fillings -- from Pork Jowl al Pastor to Mushroom Carnitas -- the team's tortilla-cradled foods are also required eating.

Hot-weather drinks include a range of cocktails, available by the pitcher or glass, wine, beer and shooters. Few things are as alluring on a scorching day as a rosy-hued pitcher of Pink Flamingo, featuring a fruity base of strawberry, watermelon and lemon livened up with black pepper and Spring Mill Distillery Vodka. As tropical and eager to get the party started as a newbie at an all-inclusive, the Coneja Jungle Bird blends Havana Club 7 Year Old Rum and Campari with apricot, pineapple, cinnamon and lime for a sprightly summertime sipper.
