Bar Koukla is an Aegean-inspired meze and wine bar located in Toronto’s famed Ossington neighbourhood. Bar Koukla is affectionately known as the younger, more rebellious little sister of Mamakas Taverna. She's open a little later, the music is a little louder, yet the same commitment to authentic Aegean cuisine and culture remains. Our meze-style menu is shaped by the sun, the sea and the soil. Culinary methods that have been passed down through generations have become an intrinsic part of our culture. Our natural, biodynamic and organic wine program focuses on independent producers from the volcanic island vineyards of Greece, whilst our cocktail program focuses on indigenous Aegean ingredients and draws inspiration the ancient history of the region. Koukla means 'doll' or 'beautiful girl' in Greek and is used a term of endearment and adoration.
