Muni Robata

Japanese robata-style grilling comes to the Queen West neighbourhood at Muni Robata, located north of Queen on St. Patrick. Open mid-February, the eclectic interiors, seasonal offerings and elevated service blend traditional Japanese flavours with a contemporary flair.

The Space:

Muni

Muni Robata offers a full-service bar, 125 seat dining room and an open concept kitchen with a full view of the robata-style grills. Their cozy private dining room seats up to 20 people and is the perfect space to host an intimate family dinner or corporate event. Owner Dong Yang Li conceptualized the interiors with careful thought two years prior to opening, keeping with a warm and inviting colour scheme and chic decor.

The Drinks:

A unique item on the drink menu is their premium sake flight ($20) that comes with 1 oz pours of three different styles of sake allowing you to pair with your favourite dishes. The wine menu includes classic European staples alongside a wide selection of sake and premium champagne for special occasions.

Muni

The cocktail menu offers housemade concoctions that incorporate Japanese flavours and traditional spirits. I Believe (I Can Fly)($17) is a tropical blend of tequila, pineapple and lime, garnished with a pineapple wedge that is torched in front of you at the table.

The Food:

Muni Robata

Traditional robatas are three-tiered grills, allowing seasoned chefs to cook items on each level based on heat intensity. Chef Jun Tang has curated a family-style menu that accommodates your every whim. The bright and intricate flavours of the appetizer section perfectly kick off the meal.

Now in their second month of service, Muni Robata is a welcome unique addition to a vibrant neighbourhood packed with food options. Rumours of a happy hour service from 3-5 pm are circulating and I wouldn't hesitate to make it my go-to after work spot.
