Cereal-infused gelato is arriving in Toronto for the summer

Cereal is a nostalgic childhood staple and something adults seem to see less and less of, which prompted Desean Gremli and Tolu Makinde back in 2016 to create JAM Cereal (Just Add Milk).

What they came up with was turning their favourite cereals into different treats like ice cream sandwiches, customized to-go bowls, milkshakes and gelato. Gremli said they wanted to offer exactly what people look for in their kitchen when they get that craving––to be as simple as pouring yourself a bowl of your favourite sugary cereal, but in a unique way with a distinct vessel.

Last summer JAM Cereal had a pop up at Convenience Bar, which has since closed, where they offered a variety of cereal-based milkshakes, which were met with rave reviews. This time around, they are releasing gelato pints infused with all of your favourite cereal.

Gremli shared that even though things were slow for everyone last year, they still had a good summer demonstrating their resilience, being able to serve their loyal customers in Toronto out on Queen West. What they noticed was a lot of their clients wanted to bring milkshakes to their friends or save some for during the week when they weren’t open, which resulted in Gremli and Makinde deciding to release gelato pints to serve their needs. They know for sure that this product will allow a lot more people to see what makes JAM Cereal special––it will allow everyone to stock up for the week and share nostalgic memories with friends and family.

Using their JAM house recipe for gelato, they'll be using scratch ingredients and, of course, your favourite cereals. You can expect items like Cinnamon Toast Crunch, French Toast Crunch, Fruity Pebbles, Oreo, Chips Ahoy, Lucky Charms, Hershey’s Kisses, Honeycomb and many more on their specialized gelato menu.

Starting in August, you can get your hands on this gelato, available for pick up in Toronto and Ottawa. Location details will be released soon, so be sure to stay updated on their social media.
