Ikkousha opening new shop just for chicken ramen

Updated: 4 years ago

Years ago ramen took Toronto by storm and the comforting noodle soup has only continued to grow in popularity. Luckily for ramen fanatics, the choices have only grown and the newest addition to Toronto's ramen scene happens to specialize in chicken ramen.

Ikkousha Ramen, known for its authentic tonkotsu (pork bone) broth ramen, is opening up a second location called Ikkousha Ramen Chicken at 257 Queen St West (right beside their current location).

We can expect the chicken broth to be made with the same level of passion and meticulous care that the tonkotsu broth requires. Similar to the tonkotsu broth, the chicken bones are also simmered for over 24 hours using their unique soup-making method called "yobimodoshi". The result is a thick broth that is then blended with Fukuoka-made soy sauce. The ramen will be served with chicken cha-shu, rather than the traditional pork cha-shu. All bowls are topped with Ikkousha's original noodles.

This Toronto location will be the first of its kind in Canada and will be in addition to 20 other locations around the world.

Fans will be able to check out the new location in late February when doors open to the public.
