King West restaurant and local fashion designer come together in a community based initiative

Oretta, a modern Italian restaurant on King West has collaborated with local fashion designer and founder of No Mask No Service, Amanda Lew Kee to create limited edition face masks and merch.

The launch will feature a special edition crewneck and matching face masks that are aesthetically matched with Oretta's modern decor, distinct colour palette and takeout packaging.

No Mask No Service's refined and stylish velveteen face masks come in three different colours including a beautiful olive green, burnt orange and blush pink.

No Mask No Service is premised on giving back to the community and helping one another in a time of need. Fashion Designer, Amanda Lew Kee launched the brand in response to mandatory mask bylaws in Ontario and has donated 4,500 non-medical masks to long-term home care communities across the GTA. All of her masks are handmade, hand cut and sewn in Toronto.

“What excites me most about collaborating with Oretta is that it's not just another fashion collaboration but most importantly an entrepreneurial partnership of small local brands banding together during difficult times to lift each other up. A true narrative of ‘business meets creative’ across different industries; where individual strengths, resources and talents are shared and not in competition,” says Amanda Lew Kee.

The mission of this initiative is to raise awareness for supporting small local businesses, ordering takeout from local restaurants and bringing attention to the importance of masks -- specifically in the service industry.

“Supporting ‘local’ to the Oretta family means looking after your neighbours and the importance of doing so has reached an unprecedented level for small businesses across our city in 2020. Ordering takeout and shopping local has never been easier and has become a lifeline; a way for thousands of workers, families and businesses to stay afloat," says Salvatore Mele, owner of Oretta.

Starting November 12, the special edition Oretta x No Mask No Service sweatshirt will be available for purchase through No Mask No Service for $50 and the face masks will be 3 for $30 or 5 for $50. A sixth face mask will be included free of charge for you to pay it forward to a loved one or frontline worker in your community. The masks and sweatshirts will also be for sale for a limited time in Oretta Caffè.

The partners hope that the collaborative model between Oretta and No Mask No Service will inspire other small local businesses to work together on an authentic and transparent level and support one another in this time of need.
