One Night Only Pizza and Coors Organic are slinging pies for charity on National Pizza Day

The popular beer giant is partnering up with Toronto's secret backyard dough-slingers ahead of their store opening to offer one more exclusive pie starting on Monday.

One Night Only and Coors Organic announced their initiative for National Pizza Day on Feb. 9, which will be a limited edition pie made by ONO called the 'Savour What's Simple' pizza. The pizzas will be given away in a small batch, and the contest is being hosted on One Night Only's Instagram page. For all pies given away, Coors Organic will match the costs and donate to Second Harvest, a local food rescue that collects fresh, unsold food and distributes it back to families in need.

Every year, nearly 60 per cent of food produced in Canada goes to waste––and of that hoard of food––32 per cent is completely edible, according to Second Harvest. To continue, the pandemic has caused many Canadians to become food insecure; a 2020 report from Community Food Centres Canada (CFCC) revealed that now one in every seven Canadians is unable to afford good, nutritious food. Second Harvest is a non-profit organization that helps solve these two problems, by connecting them together.

The initiative comes just weeks before One Night Only is slated to open their forthcoming storefront––a project that has been in the works since the Pollard family started slinging pies in the kitchen of their Riverdale home during the summer of 2020. While ONO prepares for their grand opening, they couldn't stay quiet during National Pizza Day, of course.

For hungry pizza lovers outside of the immediate Toronto area, ONO still wants you to enjoy a pie on the big day. For this, they are providing a 'tips and tricks' guide to get you started on your journey to making great pizza at home––after all, ONO started in a home kitchen.
