Popular Italian bakery closing after over 30 years

One of Scarborough’s most popular Italian bakeries will see its doors close after over 30 years in business. Occupying a small corner plaza near Pharmacy and Finch, Agincourt Bakery has been serving Italian pastries, sandwiches and hot table classics like their veal and pasta since 1986.

Sadly, they will be forced to leave after learning that the property was sold to developers, who plan to tear down the plaza and build new townhouses. When the owners heard about this, they were devastated. The outpouring of support from the community, though, has been enormous. There is even a petition to try and save the plaza.

The family-owned establishment plans to look for new locations and wants to stay in the area as they have built a loyal community. There is no set date yet for closure, but it is expected that they will remain open until at least the summer. You still have some time to grab a veal sandwich or some cannolis before it’s too late.
