This vintage mini van brings tropical cocktails and boozy treats to downtown Toronto

Roam around Toronto this summer with Nomad, a new mobile cocktail and snack experience powered by popular Ossington cocktail bar Pastiche, known for their enchanting drinks.

Despite only recently launching, the new concept on wheels has dominated the interest of Torontonians who have all been eagerly awaiting opportunities to go enjoy the recent burst of sunshine and warm temperatures in the city.

With boozy tropical treats served out of a vintage minivan from 1973, Nomad is founded upon the idea of charting a new path for hospitality and community, by reengaging people in a way that is both timeless and placeless.

"Rather than serving people at specific places, we decided to focus on the moment and provide our guests with the tools to make any place their own," said Ashkan Omidi, the owner of Nomad and Pistache.

Especially with the warmer weather currently upon us, rediscover your sense of adventure by following this new vibrant blue-green van downtown and get your hands on creative bottled cocktails, boozy freezies and muffuletta sandwiches. If you're lucky, you'll catch them on a day where cocktails are offered in fruits instead, as the crew behind Nomad experiment with what drinks would be served best in them.

In regards to a location of the van––there isn't a permanent one. Past locations for the van include appearances outside Chabrol, Super Empanada and Pastiche.

"In a world where mobility is constrained and every social interaction is held suspect, you can be spontaneous and adventurous. A bit of happy-go-lucky is what the doctor recommends," said Omidi.

Wander around the city with Nomad and enjoy their popular cocktails like the 'Painkiller', which tastes like a tropical creamsicle and 'Bohemian RhapsoTEA', which is filled with ginger-infused French gin. For the non-drinkers, they also offer a non-alcoholic version of the 'Painkiller' that you can try.

The reasoning behind the use of this vintage van is that it serves as a symbol of the past, also serving as a physical embodiment of the brand and purpose Nomad sets out to represent.

"We believe there is a unique beauty to that past captured particularly well through nostalgia," said Omidi.

Nomad wants to provide you with the opportunity to create your own special moments with those around you, where you want to capture every memory. Flirting with serendipity along the way, they hope to make your summer experiences even more enjoyable, with loads of ideas brewing for the coming months.

"Ultimately, it is Torontonians who set the pace to the path we pave," said Omidi.

Since the location of the van is often declared the day before on socials, the best way to ensure you get your fix is to follow Nomad on Instagram to see where and when they'll be popping up next. Alternatively, you can also pre-order your goods online and they'll let you know where you can pick up your order from there.
