Toronto-based Chinese pop-up serves a Sichuan-inspired menu for the New Year

After two successful pop-ups in November and early December, Sunny’s Chinese returned with a new Sichuan-inspired menu, selling out in just one day.

The new menu consists of five sharing plates that can feed up to three people.

First up on the menu is Sunny’s take on the classic ‘Dan Dan Noodle’, then there’s the ‘Crispy Hidden Chicken’, made with garlic, scallions and heaven-facing chillies.

Next is a fresh and vinegary ‘Smacked Cucumber’, then steamed ‘Yu Choy’––a vegetable similar to ‘gai lan’ or Chinese broccoli.

Last on the menu is a mouth-watering ‘Twice-cooked Pork’, made with long pepper, salted black bean and ‘doubanjiang’––a fermented chilli bean paste.

It also comes with steamed rice and Sichuan pickles as well as a house-made chilli oil for an optional add-on. The take-home feast costs $89.

The pop-up is taking place on New Year’s Eve for dinner and on New Year’s Day for lunch and dinner, although they are no longer taking orders for this menu.

Sunny's encourages customers to subscribe to their newsletter to learn about their next pop-up, expected to come soon in the new year.
