Toronto micro-roaster opens up new cafe in prime location

Toronto is no stranger to the third-wave coffee era, as smaller, more ethically focused micro-roasters have flocked to the city with enthusiastic response from the coffee community. The so-called era is defined as a movement led by manufacturers and consumers to purchase, enjoy and appreciate higher-quality coffee that often focuses on aspects like production transparency, single origin beans and highly distinctive tasting notes, to name a few. The Library is one of our city's praised spots to grab a cup of specialty coffee and purchase seasonal, flavourful beans to brew at home, and they've just announced the opening of their second location.

Not only has The Library evidently been able to keep their business thriving and even growing during the pandemic year, but they are also set to take the place of another beloved coffee destination, Sam James Coffee bar. Just four short months ago, Toronto was delivered the devastating news that Sam James' minimalist, people-watching paradise across from the park was closing after many years serving the community. Luckily, SJCB is still going strong with its several other locations across the city, and now the blow is softened even further with the announcement of another incredible coffee shop taking their place. It looks like the Trinity Bellwoods community can still get the unique and delicious cup of coffee they crave via The Library's new location.

That's right -- it looks like it's out with one coffee shop and in with a new one across from the park, which is, of course, a prime location for the stylish and presumably coffee-conscious west-end crowd. The Library officially announced their soft opening this past Thursday at 917 Queen Street West, where they will be serving up pour-over coffee, stunning latte art and sweet treats from their new digs.

The Aussie-style cafe has a clean, bright white design and an expert team of passionate baristas who craft beverages almost too pretty to drink. They also roast all of their own coffee beans, sourcing seasonal varieties from Ethiopia, Colombia and Guatemala. Those with a keen interest in specialty coffee will thoroughly enjoy exploring the different tasting notes and flavour profiles of their rotating bean selection, which is also available to order through their website.

If you live in the area or happen to be visiting the park, head on over to welcome the new coffee shop on the block and experience some of their delightful coffee to pair with your morning or afternoon walk!
