A new pescatarian and vegetarian restaurant opens in Leslieville

Contemporary meets comfort food classics at Leslieville's newest pescatarian and vegetarian restaurant, Anglr. Located at the corner of Gerrard and Jones, this restaurant aims to serve all dietary needs, including vegan and celiac guests.

Headed by the Welton brothers, with Chad Welton running the front of house operations, and Tate Welton as the head chef, Anglr is reminiscent of the friendly neighbourhood post with a modern flair. The restaurant offers a cozy indoor dining room with exposed brick and wood detailing, and a back patio oasis.

Using sustainably sourced and local ingredients, the menu features sea and vegetarian inspired dishes, including fish and chips, crab cakes, a shrimp burger, shrimp dumplings with ginger soy sauce and tacos topped with your choice of roasted sweet potatoes, sweet heat cauliflower, grilled or battered halibut, calamari and shrimp served on a house-made corn tortilla.

There is an entire "garden lovers" section for vegan diners, featuring plant-based poutine, sweet Korean cauliflower bites, maple soy Brussel sprouts and a spicy Korean salad, among others.

For those who are not pescatarian, vegan or vegetarian, Anglr also has a few comfort food classics, including their spicy chorizo poutine and CJ's cheeseburger.

As for drinks, Anglr focuses on local craft beers from Left Field and Great Lakes Brewery and wine from esteemed Ontario VQA vineyard, Malivoire.

Staying true to their Canadian classics, the Anglr Caesar is made with Titos Vodka, clamato, hot sauce and cocktail sauce topped with a spicy bean and a freshly shucked raw oyster.

Anglr is located at 1054 Gerrard Street East and is open every day except Tuesdays.
