A new pop-up is doing paletas in Kensington Market

There’s a new spot in Toronto that’s doing paletas, classic Mexican popsicles, and it's arriving in Kensington Market this summer.

Hielito Bits is a Mexican-Canadian spot whipping up paletas, smoothies and juices with fresh fruit right out of the beloved Toronto neighbourhood. Sisters Adriana Delgadillo and Alejandra Soto opened Hielito Bits on April 3 along Augusta Avenue in the heart of the market. All popsicles are handcrafted and made in small batches. They combine local ingredients with Mexican spices to create some of the drinks and paletas they offer.

On the menu, you’ll find their most popular item, the classic paleta––which are Mexican popsicles made with real fruits without use of any colorants or artificial flavours. They have over 20 different flavours, like Mango Chile, Blackberry Cheesecake, Cucumber Lime and Chamoy. They also offer various drinks and tamarind candies as well.

Hielito Bits is located at 247 Augusta Avenue in Kensington Market. Though they operate out of this little pop-up, they also sell their paletas in local convenience stores and Mexican restaurants as well. They’re currently open Tuesday to Thursday from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Friday to Sunday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

You can order for pickup and online delivery right now. If you’re looking to grab some of their popular paletas, we recommend going during the week or expect longer wait times during the weekends due to their popularity.
