Circles & Squares Bakery is debuting new items every Friday night for the holidays

Your favourite bakery just opened up their own cafe space in East York and they're celebrating the holidays with a mouthful of tasty new pastries and baked goods. Every Friday night in December, Circles & Squares Bakery is hosting a holiday night market from 6-8 p.m. featuring brand new dinner and pastry menus, a cozy outdoor fire pit and holiday themed bakery gifts and treats.

Since 2005, Circle & Squares has supplied fresh baked pastries, loaves and sandwiches to dozens of local cafes and restaurants, namely Toronto staples such as Dineen, Rooster Coffee and Balzac's. During the summer, they made the move from their main facility in Scarborough to a combined bakery and cafe space on the border of East York.

"When we found out that this space might be available we jumped to move our bakery further into the city and wanted the ability to bake for our own retail shop. Our new bakery space allows all of our customers to see into the back of our bakery space and see what keeps us busy all day long," says Simone from Circles & Squares.

Behind the glass, pastry chefs are dreaming up new recipes on top of tackling all the usual orders. "We have a pastry lab that we use for all the retail baking, it gives our pastry staff complete creative control to try out all kinds of new baked goods on our awesome neighbors and pastry-lovers."

This Friday the holiday night market will feature a French beef dip sandwich, dressed up meatball sub, as well as a Hanukkah-inspired menu of latkes with smoked salmon and Matzo Ball Soup.

You can also expect freshly baked butter tarts, béchamel and mortadella croissants, salted-caramel cream puffs, raspberry vanilla cruffins and a Basque cheesecake.

These holiday market specials change each week until the end of the month. It's a fantastic way to sample new menu items and provide feedback to the bakery as well. "If something works well at our shop then it’s highly likely we will make it available for our wholesale customers as well," says the bakery.

Who knows, maybe your new favourite treat will reappear at your favourite coffee shop and now you'll know where they got it from.

Circles and Squares Bakery is located at 197 Bartley Dr. just off of Bermondsey Rd. The holiday night market runs from 6-8 p.m. Friday nights with regular hours being 8 a.m. - 6 p.m. during the week.
