Discover your new favourite local small-owned business at Market 707's summer-ending event

Market 707, Toronto's first shipping container market, will be hosting Slice of Summer––an event aimed to showcase some of the great local vendors they house, accompanied by live music and the grand opening of The Stitch Lab, a women led social enterprise that creates one-of-a-kind products from 100 per cent repurposed and reused fabric.

Home to many beloved international street food vendors, prepare to go on a culinary journey thanks to resident shops which include Kanto by Tita Flips, Nantana Thai Food and Desserts, Omusubi Bar Suzume, Ethio and Eri Cafe, Chef Harwash and more.

Also at the event, will be vendors from Scadding Court's Women's Entrepreneur Hub. Keep an eye out for Artesia, selling handmade greeting cards, postcards and wall decor, Sooala selling raffia bags, accessories and essential oils, Fusion Fit Foods with pre-packaged protein bites and Collage Cafe Gallery selling jewelry and bags.

"We all know the past year has been hard on everyone, but it has been especially hard on small business owners," says Benjamin Maloney-Lee, communications representative for Market 707. "With the Slice Of Summer event, we hope to animate the market and provide our vendors with the best opportunity to make money and recognize the hard work and commitment they have all had to our community over the last year."

Slice of Summer is not only a celebration of the current vendors at Market 707, but it's also serving as a grand opening day for a new Scadding Court Community Centre enterprise, the Stitch Lab.

This women-led social enterprise focuses on making education and skill development for adults more accessible and as a result, provides opportunities for them to showcase what they've been learning, so you'll get the chance to meet local designers alongside their collections all while trying to decide on what you'll grab to eat next.

"We also want to give our community members an opportunity to have fun and celebrate the summer before it's over, as we all know summers and go so quickly in Toronto."

With over 20 different vendors showing up, with everything from Italian beef sandwiches, to banh mi, to handmade jewelry to loc cleaning, there's surely something for everyone to enjoy.

Slice of Summer at Market 707, located at 707 Dundas Street West, is a one-day event taking place on August 28 from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. If you miss out, keep in mind that you'll still be able to drop by and catch some of these vendors in action during their opening hours, which vary from stand to stand. Follow Market 707 on Instagram to keep up with all their events and vendors.
