Fat Pasha and Schmaltz Appetizing now open for takeout and delivery

Chef Anthony Rose is well known in the city for his beloved restaurants that seem to have taken a particular strip of Dupont Street, between Bathurst and St. George, by storm. Fat Pasha and Schmaltz Appetizing (which is tucked behind the former) were, like most other restaurants, forced to shut down back in March due to COVID-19, and have been greatly missed over the past couple of months. However, much to the delight of fans across the city who have been missing their whole-roasted cauliflower, impossibly smooth hummus and cream cheese-and-lox smeared bagels, they announced their reopening for takeout and delivery a few days ago.

Fat Pasha, one of Toronto's most popular Middle Eastern restaurants and home of the famed, tahini-smothered cauliflower, is now available to order directly through their website for curbside pickup. Luckily, they have a separate entrance to their patio space on Howland, so although guests can no longer sip on their fancy cocktails alongside an al fresco meal (at least for now), it does make for convenient, contact-free pickup from the restaurant. Feast on their ultra-creamy hummus or baba ghanoush dips with warm pita, crispy green falafel balls, chicken shawarma, spicy lamb meatballs and more, Wednesday through Sunday from 4 p.m. -8 p.m. They're also offering a decent selection of beers and wines to go, so make sure to grab a few bottles to sip on with your meal.

Since Schmaltz Appetizing has largely been a takeout spot throughout its existence, the experience hasn't changed too much, except that orders need to be placed ahead of time via their website. House-smoked lox comes classic or pastrami-style, gravlax gets a generous coating of lemon-dill or bright pink beetroot, and the classic egg, whitefish and salmon salads never disappoint. Choose your favourite cream cheese and veggies, then slap it on a bagel and call it breakfast or lunch -- they're open for all of your morning and early-afternoon needs (9 a.m. - 2 p.m.) from Wednesday to Sunday. You can also grab platters that feed 4-6 people, various vegetable sides and house-baked sweet treats like cookies and bars.

Visit the Fat Pasha and Schmaltz Appetizing websites to order directly for pickup, or get a delicious meal delivered straight to your door through DoorDash.
