The former chef of Toronto restaurants Cava and Little Sister is opening a Filipino pop-up

There's a new Filipino pop-up coming to Toronto that will be making its debut just in time for the Easter long weekend.

Jeremy Saluma, former head chef at Cava Toronto and Little Sister, is gearing up to launch Slow Jams, his own curated Filipino-style dinners and until a permanent location is secured, he's going to be dropping pop-ups across the city.

Founder and owner of pop-up Slow Jams, chef Jeremy Saluma.

In early 2020, Saluma visited the Philippines, where he was reintroduced to the flavours of his childhood and was subsequently inspired to share them with his community back in Toronto.

The new pop-up will be launching Easter weekend with a seven-course Filipino-style Easter dinner that includes mackerel, crispy pork belly, eggplant adobo, and dessert -- to name a few dishes.

The eggplant adobo is fried and marinated in soy and cane sugar and is served with ground pork.

The Kinilaw is tuna marinated in lime, coconut, soy and patis.

Slow Jams will be doing pop-ups during weekends and you can pre-order by emailing slowjams.to@gmail.com or sending them a message on Instagram. For the upcoming Easter menu, orders will be for April 3-4 and pickup will be at a designated location in Downtown Toronto. Specifics will be provided via email from Saluma directly.
