GoodGood, a curated store selling local products, sets eyes on further expansion

GoodGood locations have been springing up across Toronto ever since their first pop-up back in December 2021. With the goal of creating a community space that connects locals with locally made products and creators, GoodGood has opened three locations in different neighbourhoods throughout the city, including one that just opened last weekend.

GoodGood’s first two locations, at St. Lawrence and at St. Clair West, opened in February and March, respectively. The King West location (which is sneakily actually on Adelaide) just opened up May 26, right next to the spot of their first pop-up, though in a much larger space.

“The first pop-up location, it didn’t have seating, it was really just a cafe with some snacks and whatnot,” says Kris Linney, co-founder of GoodGood. The cafe comes with plenty of seating room at low tables and a window-side bar, and shelves stocked with grab-and-go food, drinks, and other goods alongside fresh coffee from local roasters and artisan baked goods.

The grand opening of the updated King West space was celebrated with different deals and giveaways each day, from free pints of Honey’s bubblegum ice cream with purchase, to free cafe beverages and Unholy Donuts.

“We have a really curated selection of either local or hard-to-find makers, and we try to bring them all under one roof,” says Linney. “It’s been really really cool being able to work with other local businesses, and find ways to not only make the blocks a little bit more exciting for the neighbourhoods, but to help grow their business as well, through us.”

GoodGood now carries Unholy Donuts across all of their locations, as well as products from “St. Clair West Staple,” Tres Mari Bakery, and coffee from Ethica Coffee.

The King West location was meant to share a grand opening date with a location at 709 Queen Street West, but the Queen Street launch was temporarily delayed as the company awaits final permits from the City. There are also plans to open a fifth GoodGood cafe at Yonge and Davisville by the end of June.

But Linney’s plans for GoodGood don’t end there.

“Phase one is getting the five [locations] operational in Toronto,” Linney explains. “And then looking to open 15 to 20 locations in the next year after that, primarily again focused in the GTA.”

You can find GoodGood at 140A The Esplanade, 1187 St. Clair West, 410 Adelaide West, and keep a lookout for their location at 709 Queen Street West opening soon.
