How and where to celebrate World Nutella Day in Toronto

If you're a fan of the iconic hazelnut and chocolate spread, you'll want to open your calendar and mark down this Saturday as World Nutella Day.

While nobody would judge you for eating spoonfuls of Nutella at home on the couch, there are several spots in Toronto offering unique Nutella-themed items for the occasion––and these will beat eating it straight out of the jar.

Nutella has been enjoyed by millions since 1964. The Italian spread, composed of several sweet ingredients including cocoa, hazelnuts and sugar, earned itself a day of global recognition in 2007. This means that if you needed an excuse to indulge in some Nutella treats, you've got one on Feb. 5.

Nutella is most commonly enjoyed as a toast spread, often at breakfast, but has become a staple ingredient in many desserts and beverages across the world, and, at several restaurants and bakeries in Toronto.

For those Nutella enthusiasts looking to start the morning off with a dose of Nutella goodness on World Nutella Day, head over to Cocoalatte at 671 St Clair Avenue West and order a Nutella Latte. The smooth and nutty flavour of Nutella, when combined with steamed milk and rich espresso, creates a decadent and unique coffee (and Nutella) experience.

Not a coffee lover? No problem––Cocoalatte also offers delicious breakfast options, such as Nutella waffles and crepes.

If you find yourself on the other side of the city and are hungry for a Nutella-themed breakfast, Cacao70, located in the Distillery District at 28 Gristmill Lane offers a fresh Nutella Fruit Crepe, stuffed with your choice of raspberries or strawberries, bananas and topped with a generous amount of Nutella drizzle.

Over in Toronto's east end at 1917 Queen Street East is Yum Croissant, a neighbourhood favourite in the Beaches. Yum Croissant serves up fresh, buttery croissants, savoury sandwiches and an array of sweet drinks and menu items, including a Nutella and Banana Croissant.

In case coffee, crepes, waffles and croissants stuffed with Nutella weren't enticing enough, Wish Restaurant, located at 3 Charles Street East in the heart of Yorkville, offers a Grilled Nutella Sandwich with Raspberry Compote on their brunch menu. If you're a Nutella enthusiast and a fan of grilled sandwiches, this is a must-try.

For insanely-unique Nutella desserts, Lamanna's Bakery in Scarborough––located at 6758 Kingston Road––is famous for their Nutella Gelato and Nutella Bombolini. For those hoping to go all out and order something that is truly different, Lamanna's offers several sweet versions of their big slice pizza, many of which include Nutella as a base. The Brownie Big Slice, the Kit Kat Big Slice, the Chocolate Chip Cookie Big Slice and the classic Nutella Big Slice are just a few of several options available for anyone who is eager to experience something one-of-a-kind on World Nutella Day.

Note that Pizza Cake and Big Slice orders require a minimum of 24 hours of notice.

Over in Etobicoke at 374 Royal York Road is SanRemo, a well-known Italian deli and bakery. SanRemo's menu has a wide range of Nutella options, including Nutella donuts, pudding cakes and panettones. While these items (among many others) are available throughout the year, SanRemo often introduces fresh Nutella-infused creations and asks their followers for feedback on which special menu items they should prepare for World Nutella Day.

And, last but not least, if you're staying in and looking to order a pizza on Feb. 5., consider heading to Pi Co., which have several locations across Toronto and the GTA, for one of their Sweet Pi's.

Whether you're excited to indulge in an excessive amount of Nutella on this weekend or just want to incorporate a dash of the classic Italian spread into one of your meals, there are several spots in Toronto offering unique options to satisfy your craving on World Nutella Day.

Bakeries, cafes and restaurants may require some items to be pre-ordered, so please contact the businesses directly if you have any questions. Several establishments mentioned are available for takeout and delivery through various delivery partners as well.
