Licensed Toronto electrician launches pizza pop-up

Near the Scarborough Bluffs, there's a resident doing naturally leavened Neapolitan-style pizza -- out of his own backyard.

Nick Phillips isn't a trained chef or even in the restaurant business at all -- Phillips, a licensed electrician, owns and operates his own general contracting company.

"I've been making pizza for a few years but really got into it deeper last March at the start of the lockdown. I started getting into naturally leavened bread, learning about Neapolitan pizza and the never-ending pursuit of making great pizza dough," says Phillips. He has friends in the industry who offered advice and led him to open Nicky P's Pizza Palace.

Nicky P's has many of your standard pizzas like margherita and pepperoni, including featured specials. Their Neil Pear-T consists of Bosc pear, wild boar sausage, cambozola, honey, olive oil, pistachio and fresh mozzarella cheese.

Nick's next pop-up will drop next week. You can place orders directly through their DMs on their Instagram. They’ve been sold out most weekends already, so be sure to order early. Also, be sure to check their Instagram for pop-up dates. Pickup times need to be arranged ahead of time to uphold safety restrictions.
