Lokma Pastry from Quebec arrives in Scarborough

Fahad Syed, the co-founder of the popular Quebec-based Lokma Pastry, went on a trip to Turkey and tried the traditional dessert, quickly falling in love. He became eager to bring the flavours of the lokma to Canada, and began his business in Montreal. Now, Lokma Pastry has opened up their first location in the province, in Scarborough.

Lokma is a Turkish dessert which are deep-fried dough balls. Every order is made fresh, which ensures the lokmas are golden and slightly crisp on the outside, but still fluffy on the inside. You can order the lokma's covered in nutella and biscoff, cinnamon honey, white chocolate and much more. In addition, they've curated six signature lokma flavours that are the most popular. To name a few, the Mount Everest lokmas are filled with custard, covered with white chocolate, and sprinkled with Oreo cookies. The Milkyway lokmas are filled with white custard, covered with milk chocolate, white chocolate and dark chocolate, then sprinkled with biscoff crumbs and peanuts for a final touch.

Otherwise, clients can get creative by customizing their own toppings, including nuts, fresh fruit and Belgian chocolate. In addition to various toppings, you can also fill the lokmas with delicious pastry cream. Aside from lokmas, they offer mini donuts with customizable toppings, milkshakes and amazing sundaes.

Hazeeb Rahman Pilakoth and Bader Rashed, who are the franchisees of the Scarborough location, were excited to bring this concept to Ontario since they felt these were unique flavours Scarborough hasn't seen before. They decided to choose Scarborough for their first GTA location because the area had a lot of different restaurants that offer burgers, pizza, shawarma, but there was nothing like lokma in the area. Lokma has over a dozen openings expected in 2022.

Lokma Pastry's new Scarborough spot is located at 1950 Lawrence Avenue East.
