New Thai restaurant with a secret menu opens up in Etobicoke

Thai Barn Na is a family-owned business that has officially joined Toronto's abundant Thai food scene.

Atchapong (Goff) Wongkhamchan and Anita Brahma, his partner, decided to started their own business in 2020. In addition to classic Thai dishes like Pad Thai and Pad Kee Mao, they carry their own secret menu that is only shared once you call in and preorder.

Goff's parents own a Thai restaurant in New York City and he had a chance to help his parents to setup the restaurant before it opened. He supported with their opening and worked alongside them until he felt it was time to move back to Canada, since the New York lifestyle was not for him. After moving back to Canada, he tried doing different things before realizing opening a restaurant was always something he wanted to do. After meeting his partner Anita, who is also passionate about food and cooking, he knew opening a restaurant could soon be possible.

During the pandemic, Goff spent a lot of time on cooking and he really enjoyed it. His family also gave him full support because everyone knew how passionate he was of cooking, especially Thai cuisine. Goff shared that the recipes used at Thai Barn Na come from his family, which have been passed down through generations.

One of their highlighted menu items are their Pad See Ew, made with flat rice noodles, egg, dark soy sauce, oyster sauce, garlic and Chinese broccoli, with the choice of shrimp, beef, chicken as a protein, or veggies. Another speciality Goff enjoys making is his Khao Soi, made with soft crispy egg noodles, golden curry, coconut milk, spring onion, crispy shallot, lime and pickled vegetables, with the choice of tofu, chicken or beef as a protein. They are a fully halal certified restaurant and offer gluten free and vegan options too.

You can find Thai Barn Na at 256 Brown's Lane in Etobicoke.
