Pakistani street food concept in Scarborough closed since May finally reopens in a new location

After spending the last five months searching for and building their new home, late-night Pakistani street food kitchen Chachu's has finally reopened in a new location at 16 Mallard Rd in North York.

Only opening at the end of February earlier this year, Chachu's is still a fairly new business. Still, they built a name for themselves as a go-to late-night takeout spot in Scarborough serving Pakistani street food like paratha rolls and chicken over rice, reflective of owner Obaid Ullah's time in Pakistan.

Since they operated late at night, they were fortunate to get their start by sharing a space with Avengers Burger in the Lebovic Food Court; however, they abruptly lost their space in May after Avengers Burger had a change in ownership.

Though they were fortunate to find the perfect new space in June, the reopening preparations still took time. One of the benefits of taking a few months to develop a new spot is a kitchen all to themselves and an expanded menu.

Find more than just paratha rolls and chicken over rice, known as Chachu Bowls. Protein options include chicken tikka, tandoori chicken and chapli kababs. They've also introduced New York-style fries on the menu, paired with some of their sides and will be bringing in a salad and vegetarian bowl option soon too. On their drink menu, don't skip out on the chai.

"Chachu is still an infant in the restaurant business but we want people to remember the store for the food and our service. Our customers should feel at home when they come to Chachu's," says Ullah. "That's our vision from the start to finish. Our Pakistani - North American Fusion style food caters to a wide variety of folks. We wish for everyone to be Fed By Chachu's. Our food speaks for itself, and we encourage folks to try it out."

Chachu's is located at 16 Mallard Rd in North York and offers takeout options on all major delivery platforms and the opportunity to dine-in at the food court. They're open seven days a week from 12 p.m. until 12 a.m. Be sure to check them out on Instagram for any updates.
