You may have noticed that the stunning Paris Paris has moved from their Dundas location to 146 Ossington Avenue, and with a new (massive) location comes a host of new projects and treats for the ever-thirsty Toronto wine-lover population.
The new building is actually a transformed auto-body garage with skylights and oversized windows; it has the romantic wine-bar aesthetic of the original location but with space to test out brand new ideas. We might not be able to have a glass at Paris Paris during lockdown, but they are still giving us plenty of options to stock up on their wine list. If you do still want to check out the space, they actually have a pop-up bottle shop you can browse through if you go.
Paris Paris has treated us to some wonderful wines over the years, and after so many occasions of customers coming in, being uber impressed by their wine cellar, and asking Paris Paris to buy bottles of the good stuff, Paris Paris has listened and launched Paris Paris Club, a bespoke wine subscription service that has multiple tiers and a hand-curated listing.
The talented group of passionate Paris Paris sommeliers have curated a 4-bottle box that includes rose, sparkling, red and white options (also seasonally influenced, think winters with an emphasis on reds and summer with whites). Their offering is priced at three different tiers: an everyday, casual box for making your weeknight noodles, tier two is funky and new age and tier three is the opulent, complex box that's priced higher. All the bottles are really special and hand-picked by the wine experts of Paris Paris, these aren't bottles you'll find easily at the LCBO and they feature impressive designs.
Their Club wines aren't going to be found in their restaurant or bottle shop, they are pretty exclusive to the boxes, and once they're gone, they're gone. The boxes are limited release, you won't find them again, and they will be launched on a monthly-ish basis. However, if you do obsessively fall in love with a bottle, you can connect with the Paris Paris sommeliers to have their help procuring it.
To give you another sneak preview of something Paris Paris is brewing, you can expect an official space for a Paris Paris retail shop. Inspired by their new location, they will have a brick-and-mortar store attached to the restaurant; this is a natural progression into retail given the demand of their wine list. They'll have a range of wines and products (like stemware, openers, decanters and even a hand-milled brass wine stopper); their two sources are local Toronto craftspeople and hand-selected items from Europe. The top picks from the wine bar will be available in the retail shop, but all three options are relatively unique, with Paris Paris Club, Paris Paris Bar and the retail shop offering exclusive options only available in that format. Summer 2022 is the goal for the retail shop, depending on Covid regulations.
