What's going on this Pi Day in Toronto

Pi Day (March 14 or 3.14) has quickly become a national holiday, especially for pizzerias. For the past few years, local spots and large franchises have played around with Pi Day campaigns and deals for the day that have included free pies and pizzas for $3.14.

Today is no different, but with the current state of health and safety in the city, places may be taking a different approach to Pi Day, or have decided to cancel it all together.

Pi Day often causes large line ups and crowding inside establishments, and since the city has advised against large gatherings Pi Day is looking a little different this year.

Here is a look as what Toronto pizza joints are doing for Pi Day this year, and where you can still snag a deal today:

Blaze Pizza

Blaze

Blaze Pizza is a franchise of choose-your-own personal pizzas, where customers can come in and customize everything from the dough, sauce, toppings and drizzle on their pizzas. Usually, they offer $3.14 pizzas at their restaurants, but today they will be offering the "Blaze Pi Day" pizza reward any day this year through the Blaze app. This means that people will not have to crowd the stores today, and can redeem this $3.14 pizza from March 16, 2020 all the way until December 31, 2020.

Pizza Pizza

The beloved Canadian franchise Pizza Pizza is known for their economically-friendly delivery pizzas and take-out slices. They are offering small cheese or pepperoni pizzas today for just $3.14 for walk-in orders only (limit one per customer). The CEO, Paul Goddard, released a statement yesterday explaining the safety and sanitation measures their stores will be taking to deal with COVID-19.

Pi Co

Pi Co

Pi Co is another create-your-own personal pizza spot with a huge wood fire oven, where pizzas are ready in just 90 seconds! They are a local Toronto spot and across the city are known to have huge lineups for any promotion they run: new store openings, company accomplishments and of course, Pi Day. They have made the decision to cancel Pi Day in the wake of the COVID-19 happenings in a statement they released through Instagram. There's a chance the deal will be postponed after all of this, but there is no news as to when. Checking their Instagram is the best way to find out updates but all their stores and delivery services are running as usual.
