Popular BBQ Spot from St. Catharines is being revived in Toronto

The Bull BBQ Pit, a staple in the St. Catharines and Niagara area for nearly seven years, has been resurrected in Toronto

Serving classic eats with a BBQ twist, the beloved barbecue spot was even featured on Food Network’s You Gotta Eat Here. Owner Omar Fawzy and his family moved to Toronto a couple years ago and wanted to bring the concept to the big city.

When the pandemic hit, they had to delay their plans a bit further, but have recently opened up on St. Clair Avenue, hosting their soft opening on Feb. 25. Despite the rocky road to get here, they’ve been fully embraced by the community.

The menu has a mix of classic comfort dishes combined with some barbecue favourites like wings, pulled pork and brisket. They also have some crazy menu items like the 'Redonkadonk', which is pulled pork, brisket, bacon, grilled onions, homemade coleslaw, horseradish mayo and a few fries on a bun. Everything is smoked and cooked in house like their popular BBQ ribs and 'Mac Daddy' mac and cheese.

“Everything about the spot on St. Clair has weird vibes to it––the layout is almost the same and there’s even a breakfast restaurant beside us just like at St. Catharines. It really has that “meant to be feel”, so now we’re just determined to make it successful,” says Fawzy.

The Bull BBQ Pit is located at 1216 St. Clair Avenue West. Right now, you can find them on most third-party apps for delivery and takeout. They’re hoping to survive off those until they can welcome guests for dine-in.
