Popular Berlin-based kebab chain opens in Toronto

German Doner Kebab (GDK), an internationally-acclaimed fast-casual spot for the coveted kebab dish, has opened their third Canadian location in Toronto.

They are known for their massive doner kebab sandwiches, burgers, wraps, nachos and spring rolls. Their original location, based in Berlin, first opened back in 1989, where they were quickly loved for their unique blend of traditional spices, fresh local vegetables, house-made bread, signature secret sauces, lean succulent beef and pure chicken fillets.

GDK has locations in both Ottawa and Vancouver, and the Toronto location is set to open up in the heart of Queen West, where the now-closed Cafe Crepe used to operate. GDK is a thriving global chain with 70 locations, which can be found in the UAE, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, USA, Sweden and the UK.

"The location doesn't get any better, it's in the heart of downtown. Period," said Usman Ali, franchisee owner of the Toronto location, in a press release. They also have plans to open over 10 more restaurants in Canada over the next decade.

Some items you'll find on their menu are Veggie Kebabs, Original German Doner Kebab, Doner Burger, Doner Quesadillas, Chilli cheese bites and curry, as well as flaming or cheesy fries. All of the menu items are prepared in front of customers.

German Doner Kebab is now open in Downtown Toronto at 246 Queen Street West, and is open Sunday to Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Thursday to Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m.
